I’m Emily, the cook behind Food Fuggery. I imagine you found yourself here because you’re interested in cooking, and want to see what I can offer. First, a bit of background on me and how Food Fuggery got going.

I got into cooking when I was graduating from University. I had moved back home, and was very overweight. I had been overweight most of my adolescent and adult life by that point, and while I had managed to lose 20 pounds from walking around the city, I wanted the rest of it gone once and for all! So I started paying attention to what I was eating (with the help of Weight Watchers), and made goals for myself. In a few months, I hit my goal weight, and I managed to keep it off for five years!

Now, at the age of 30, I’ve started a family, and find myself in the kitchen at home, honing in on my recipes and working towards a business in food (and also working off some mom weight!).

This blog was started as part of a project I had in Culinary School in Toronto. Around the classrooms, I came to be known as the girl obsessed with bread and baking. My training in school was fairly encompassing, going from savoury to sweet to other places in the world. But when I’m bored at home, or stressed out, I calm myself by baking.

One result of that school project was winning second place in the school’s blog awards (*mini cheer*), and the other was the desire to connect with others! I’m now a stay-at-home work-from-home mom, and I want to hear from you! I want to know what you’re looking for when it comes to recipes and cooking and baking.

On this site, you’ll currently find three sections. One contains the posts I made for my culinary education. The second, called “Theory”, contains my musings about different aspects of cooking, baking, and the food industry in general. And last, but NOT least, the “Recipes” category will be where you can find my recipes as I post them.

I hope you enjoy browsing around my site, and please feel free to connect with me! Leave a comment, and be sure to follow me on Instagram  for all my latest adventures!
